I'm a few days late on this, but Bush went out on Earth Day and again tried to act like he gives a shit about the environment. It makes me sick that he keeps talking about doing something but doesn't actually do it. We're dependent on oil? Oh my God, no shit. And he's done nothing but make it worse. If he's really trying to promote alternative energy why would he give the oil companies billions in tax breaks with his genius energy bill? If he wasn't just outright lying, he would instead take that money and actually invest it in research for alternative fuels. Making the oil industry more profitable isn't going to make people get out of it. But of course that's not his actual agenda; he'd much rather help huge corporations turn a profit by loosening environmental restrictions. Just as an example, the white house recently reclassified "wetlands" to include man-made ponds and even golf course water hazards; they then used this new definition of wetlands to say that under the bush administration, the total wetlands in the US have dramatically increased. I know it sounds crazy, but somehow they're getting away with this crap. Bush shouldn't even show his face on Earth Day.
