Hello peeps!
Writing to you from sunny Spain. For anyone who´s interested here´s what I´ve been up to for the last week or so. Its a pretty long post, so I´ll shove it behind a cut.
Left Adelaide on the 2nd for Singapore, flight was long and boring, not helped by the fact we were all so excited. Got to our destination, and did a little sight seeing. Visited the Fountain of Wealth, which is the largest fountain in the world. Next day we did some shopping down Little India before paying a visit to the Singapore Zoo. That place was so much fun! Had a little bit of a obsession with the otters... oh and animal statuesare so much fun to play with. We have some ripper photos! Over to the Night Safari, which was ok, couldn´t see a lot though. Next day we went up to the old Changi Museum which was pretty interesting and at times moving. After that over to Santoesa Island on the cable cars, went up the tower, got to hold a snake (made daniel hold a snake which was really funny, cause he´s scared of them). Looked around Fort Siloso, and old WW2 Fort overlooking the sea, then finally got to climp a statue of the countries icon the Merlion.
Set the alarm for 5.00 to catch our taxi transfrer the next morning at 6.30 to take us to the airport... woke up at 7.10... SHIT long story short, which involved begging, bigg tipping, daniel running throught the hotel barefoot and our taxi driver going 130kmh in an 80 we just made it. Its very funny now that story. Once again, very long flight, 20 hours of sunlight that day. Arrived in London on the hottest day they´d had for like a year or so, and was thinking how great it was. Saw a shoplifter get taken down, a dead disembowed rat on the side walk, lots of red phone boxes and double decker busses... our England experience is complete.
Started our Contiki trip early the next day, set 5 alarms and got a wake up call this time. Spent the whole day on the bus, people are mostly all really nice, but there is still a few I have no idea what there names are. Tent buddies with a nice New Zealander girl called Verity whos about 25 I think. Camping itself has benn ok I suppose, couple of crappy moments including rain and mud, but that comes with the package I suppose. First stop on our Trip of Europe was France. Was made to try a snail and some of the local brew. Had a quick bus tour of the city, before going back the next day.
Started of at the Versilles where the lines were phenominal, out tour guide, Stella told us to "be assertive"... in other words push in... so we did, it was kinda fun, got glared at a lot, shoved away at one point, but it was worth it, only had a couple of hours, that place is amazing. Home of Louis XIV, and I tell you what, that guy was totally self obsessed. Next we visited the Arc de Triomphe, and here´s an interesting fact. Most dangerous intertsection in the world and the only place where your not covered by travel insurance. Averages a crash there ever 12 minutes and I understand why, its lik 7 car widths, no lines, no lights... you pretty much just enter and hope to make it out of there alive in one piece. The arc itself was beutiful, climbed to the top and took in the veiw, saw a couple of more things, went down the main shopping street etc. Had our first dinner as a group that night, and while the others went to the Caberet, daniel, dav , a south african girl called Nadia and I caught a train to the Eiffle tower and did that instead. Took a lift to the very top and had a look at Paris at night time. Amazing! Another funny story there... might not write it here though, it may offend some readers. Got down and saw the last light show of the night, before legging it back to the Moulin Rouge to grab the lift home.
Next day we saw the Opera Garnier (home of Phantom of the Opera, and I almost wet myself when I found that out), The Louvre... just Wow. I was amazed. Had to laugh at the security around the mona lisa. So much for such a small painting. Got to see the Venus De Milo too, but then had to move on. Could have easily spent the whole day there though. Next went to Notre Dame, had another jaw droppingmoment, that place isbeautiful! So much detail into the buildings over here, I´m in love. Didnt climb the tower though, line was too long and dint think we could get away with being assertive here. Checked out the Concierge, the prison where all the prisnors from the French Revolution were held before getting exicuted. Kinda dissapointing though, there wasnt even a guillotine! Went to the Rodin Museum which was great. I wasso excited cause I just finished studying him at uni. Got to pose with the ´thinker´ in the beautiful gardens. Last of all we went and saw Napoleons tomb then headed back.
The last couple of days, we´ve been on the bus. Now have a theme song "beautiful day" gotten to know a few more people a lot better. Arrived in Spain yesterday arvo, weather is great. Had a beach party last night for one of the guys birthdays, got drunk, feel like shit today. Had to help carry Dav back, he was totally out of it, chundered all over the place last night, ah well good times, good times. Anyways I better be off, more of Barcelonato see and Lance my wonderful Kiwi friend is waiting here to use the next so catch ya all later.
