Holiday Report 3

Hello again new report, if your interested click the link.
Righto. After Rome we travelled down to Sorrento where we got to chill out for a bit before taking an overnight ferry to Greece. First stop there was Corfu. Friken awesome! Just the sea and sun for 3 days. A well needed break. Went on George's Boat which was a real laugh. Dav got his gear off around skinny dipping island and star jumped off the boat... surprising to say the least. Very funny. After that we were off to the Capital.

The fires there were a bit of a worry. It was actually raining ash the entire time we were in Athens. Athens itself I thought was a little disappointing, a lot of the ruins, in particular the pantheon which was covered in scaffolding and mostly missing because of restoration which wont be finished untill 2020.

Our next major stop worth mentioning was the old city of Troy. It was ok, there are actually 9 different levels of city ruins on the site, showing how many different towns have been there at different times. This was also the first day of our stint of hotels, Yay! Got to see the Trojian horse used in the movie 'Troy'.

Next day we went to Gallipoli, which was one of the most emotional things I have ever done. I was crying as soon as I saw the coast. It is such a beautiful place and to think of how much horror and destruction took place is just unbelievable. Walked up to the Beach Cemetary where I found the grave of our relative, Ambrose Stanley Pearce and just completely broke down. Took me a few minutes to pull myself together before I could look again. Put a flower on top and said a few words to him (he's still remembered and missed and that everyone is proud of him and then thanked him for 'making the ultimate sacrifice'. I also made several other people cry, and so did Chad with his message. Had a quick look at John Simpsons grave which was close by but had to run. Wish I had more time there, I definitely want to go back there. Went to Istanbul for a day, which was pretty cool, such a different culture, shopping was pretty decent but the food was crap.

From there we did a lot of the eastern countries, got pretty sick so I cant really remember much, but feeling a little better today in Croatia. Dubrovnik to be exact, such a beautiful place. You'd like it here mum and dad. Anyway thats it for me. This keyboard is driving me nuts because the y and z is around the wrong way! Grrr. Anyways peace out.
