Living in a coal mine

Had the weirdest dream the other night... It was a combination of 3 tv shows, one which I think I made up for the convenience of the story (which made no sense, yet always does in a dream) Life on Mars, in which Sam was a psychopathic drug dealer bent on taking everyone down (not cool) and CSI: NY which I dont even watch! Then I somehow ended up in ( Read more... )

Ack! O.o I'm very sorry to hear about your woes!

The Viking thingie is awesome ... welcome to some 'new' history! Just in case you didn't stumble across it, among many cool things the vikings did for English-language culture is give us Thursday and Friday (Thor's Day and Frig/Freya's Day) ... there might be some others but I'm actually suffering from my own minor computer issues at the moment so am up absurdly late and doing a quick drive-by LJ check from a desktop *gasp!* machine!.

Tons of words in English come from Norse roots. In modern times, remember that we had probes go to Mars that were called Viking and there is the ever-amazing Opera web browser.

And, erm ... you probably know all this by now. Did I mention I'm up absurdly late? *g*

Hehe, my mother-in-law is a Viking and i'm pretty sure at least one of my sons is too. Very strong genes! I know they kind of spread all round the coast of the UK and just inter-married rather than invaded. Pretty sure William the Conquerer was technically a Viking too, just lived in France! Plus they were the first europeans to really discover America (or so it is thought)
The lap top thing must be soo irritating though *hugs* I hate squirrelly computers, they drive me crazy
