I read a quote that struck a chord with me in the NYT coverage of the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Wall falling

Talking about that sense of optimism reminded me of the opening part of an episode of RadioLab where someone asked people "Do you think there will ever be a day when we won't have any wars?" The whole episode was pretty fascinating.
