I thought the awesomest black super hero was Brother Voodoo. I'm not sure that counts. Sure, he's black and has an almost comedically sized afro like other 70s era black super heroes- and even has a name that invokes Blackploitation films of the era but in much more subtle way. Not as blatant as Black Jericho, Black Lightning or Invisible Kid II.
