The boy who works in the flower shop on 3rd is gorgeous. She buys flowers she neither wants, nor needs, just to feel his hand touch hers when he gives her change to her. He looks her in the eye & smiles, which keeps her blood quick & warm long after the greenhouse flowers fade.
Holding her hand beneath the spigot, the hot water causes her cold fingers to tingle fiercely. She flips the toggle which stoppers the bathtub drain, watches the basin fill. "Is that bath ready yet!?" her angrily impatient husband shouts at her. "It's ready!" she yells, and under her breath, "It's hotter'n hades, just for you."_
Rousing herself from sleep to confirm that the arms twining around her body are indeed his & not those of the flesh eating vine in her dream. "What's wrong?" His voice disembodied in the dark. "Nothing. Go back to sleep." She, however, remains awake, eyes burning, waiting for dawn to shed light on her unease._
I watched a movie last week, a korean film called The Bow, and by golly, this movie pushed all my buttons. I was so worked up internally while watching this movie that my heart was pounding the entire time. ( cut for uber spoilage )
