Messenger is a mess. All of the IM programs have too much stuff in them that no one ever uses, but Messenger is the messiest.

And the actual transfer of data seems to be sooo unreliable and latent. The interface is such an eye-sore, it leaves anybody with any common sense in design to feel like somebody is constantly jabbing them in the eye. I hate it to bits but it is the only thing people use here.

I have noticed that friends outside the US use Messenger a lot more and usually don't have AIM or Yahoo. In the US, AIM is the most common, with Yahoo after that.
