I think this also helps for those who want to become aspiring filmmakers/illustrators. When one or many become immersed in the world of Ebberon, the lost ruins of Arkoshia in 4.0, or even learning of the deities from lawful good to chaotic evil, it would give them the inspiration they'd need in order to create a vast and beautiful society of peace or desolate and tyrannical world engulfed in war. Either way you look at it, D&D has become more than a mere children's board game. It's become that reminder in our minds that we can always look to for guidance. And that's why it will never be forgotten.
On another note, players can also try out the more modern 3.5 d20 Modern campaigns, possibly Dark Matter or Shadowrun for the more futuristic/cyberpunk setting if ye olden medievaltime periods don't suit to their tastes.
There should be Dour Realist Novel themed role playing game, where you can play a professor going through a mid-life crisis or an un-fulfilled housewife suffering from post-partum depression.
I think it would be called Pencils and Paper Pushers or somesuch. Also, thanks a lot for the link. I intend to go. I saw it yesterday and wondered if it was, in fact, the Japanese Mono and not some other band. I am greatly looking forward to it. Are you going to be attending as well?
