0 seconds: Stan sets off travelling 360m/45s = 8m/s
70 seconds: Freddie overtakes Stan Stan has covered 70*8=560m. Minus a lap (360m) means he's 200m into his second lap. Freddie has been travelling 40s so is doing 200m/40s = 5m/s
79 seconds: Malcolm overtakes Stan Stan has covered 79*8=632m. Minus a lap (360m) means he's 272m into his second lap Malcolm has been travelling 64s so is doing 272m/64s = 4.25m/s. BUT it says this guy wins, so he must be in his second lap... lets try (272+360=632)m/64s = 9.875m/s
if stan's doing 120m in 15 seconds (8m/s), then at 79 seconds he's done 632m - and the 3rd lap begins at 720m... unless there's something i've missed (quite probable ;)
Helppppppppppppppppppppppppp.....before I go mad lolcazDecember 5 2003, 10:41:05 UTC
PuzzleDonkey woke up on Christmas morning and was delighted to see his stocking bulging with presents. He wasted no time in unwrapping them.
The first present was a book about the NATO phonetic alphabet. This was followed by a Monopoly board, a plastic bat, a guide to Peru, a bearded smurf and a Spanish mackerel. It was at this point that he began to think there was something fishy going on.
He continued to open his presents, and received a silverback gorilla, a calendar, dancing lessons, a map of the Milky Way centered on a star labelled 'Proxima', a set of tees, the complete works of Shakespeare, The Picture of Dorian Gray, tickets to visit the Orkney Islands, a CD called Crocodiles, a model of a mountain range, a speaking device and a radar speed gun.
He realised that an elf was trying to communicate with him. What was the message?

I didn't like that one :p
The key is the first present, look that up on google and find the phonetic alphabet. For each of the remaining presents you can relate a phonetic letter to it (I'll get you started by saying the Monopoly board is Hotel because well you get hotels on monopoly boards :p)
Do that for all of them, some are really hard and I had to get help but they spell out the answer (which is rude ;p)

after 79 seconds stan has gone 8*79 = 632m
So Malcolm covers the same distance in 15 seconds less.
X*64=623 so X = 9.875m/s
But I don't see the point in Freddie so I'm waiting to get told the trick which prooves I'm dumb.
