Chapter 1- Part 2

Slipping through the crowd Sungmin fought the fatigue that tore at him, smirking at the music that blasted over the club. The intermingled bodies of the clubbers brushed against him to the beat of the music, their heat and sweat mingling in the party air. Plush lips curling over perfectly whitened teeth he politely refused invitations, making his way to the bar. Smirk growing into a broad grin he watched a young man work efficiently behind the counter, his smooth skin glistening beneath the neon lights. Flipping his wavy auburn locks his large eyes landed on the other at the end of the bar. His smile broadening in recognition. Nodding his head Sungmin signaled the bartender over. Smirking the bartender shook his head in astonishment; absently responding to his client before he waved to the woman he was conversing with in favor of Sungmin.

“Well I’ll be.” The other shook his head, full lips pulling back into a genuine smile. “It’s been a long time Hyung!” He laughed, eyes crinkling in merriment. “What’s it been? 6 years?”

“Something like that Taeminnie.” He laughed, shouting above the music. “I’m looking for Hyoyeon!”

“Ah! I saw her earlier; she said you would be coming!” Taemin shouted back.

“What?” Sungmin feigned innocence, “You didn’t believe her?”

Shaking his head Taemin laughed, “I guess you could say that! I wasn’t so sure, not after I saw who was with her!”

“Who’s with her?” Sungmin asked curiously, tilting his head, remembering Hyoyeon’s sudden silence.

Eyes widening suddenly Taemin looked at him cautiously, “She didn’t tell you?” he yelled over the music, waving at one of his associates to take care of a quest that called his name.

“Tell me what?” Sungmin demanded in confusion.

Lips drawing in distaste the young man shook his head. “I better let her tell you.” Came his simple reply, signaling the end of the exchange. “But on that note, you look good! Dam good if I must say!” he shouted in approval, smoky eyes roving the blonde before him.

“Thanks!” Sungmin laughed, trying to disperse the unease that was suddenly gnawing at him. “Can you tell me where she is?”

“She’s in the back!” He shouted, pointing towards the third floor and the private rooms. “She rented one of my private rooms!”

“Yours? Sungmin shouted curiously, feeling the customers start to push him from the bar.

“Yeah!” Taemin yelled, as Sungmin was swept away into the crowd. “I own this place!” Throwing him a badge over the other’s heads Taemin grinned, voice shouting over the crowd. “You need that to get up there! Give them Hyo Noona’s name and they’ll take you to her room! Give them my name and you’ll get anything you need!”

Shaking his head Sungmin laughed at the boisterous young man that had replaced his Dongsaeng from so many years ago. Waving to the guard at the elevator he simply said Hyo’s name, mumbling a thanks as he pressed a button, letting whoever was at the end of his ear piece now that another member of the party was on their way up. Leaning against the stainless steel he felt an uneasy fear begin to gnaw at him. Just who had she brought with her and why wouldn’t anyone tell him who the hell it was.

Sighing wearily he rested his head against the cool metal of the elevator, smiling blearily at his reflection. His normal styled hair was a messy mop of blonde, a color he had opted for when he had shot the summer selection for his company. Many had been against it, fearing he would look unsophisticated. But he had wanted it. He felt that it would appeal to the younger audience more, and that was what he had wanted. Yawning groggily he wiped the small dark ring that had smudged from his eyeliner. Smiling he straightened the tank beneath his swede jacket, licking his lips to moisten them. Sighing he slumped once more. To hell if he looked good. That Dongsaeng of his must be blind. He was jet lagged and tired and he felt a million years old at the moment. Getting old and his trend of being lonely was taking its toll on him.

Thumping the loud music of the bass beat within the elevator the muffled sounds reminding him of years back. Chuckling he thought of Taemin and the fresh young smile that was now replaced by a sexy cocky youth. Shaking his head he thought of the other’s words. “Own it huh?” he mused, rising as the elevator stopped. “I guess I could see that coming.”

Stepping from the elevator he nodded to the attendant who simply smiled, directing him down the hall to Hyo’s room. Smiling brightly he bowed slightly before heading to the room. Pausing outside he inhaled deeply, plastering a smile on his face he slid the key in, shoving the door open.

“Min!” A voice shrieked before he found himself slammed against the wall, a slender blonde tightly wrapped about him. Chuckling his arms found their way about the waist as he stumbled, her legs death grip about his own waist making it difficult to breath.

“Hyo!” he called just as happily, hugging her tight as he closed his eyes. Inhaling he felt her familiar scent fill his nostrils putting him at ease. Waving her back and forth he held her, grateful to see his best friend.

“Hyo Honey,” a voice he didn’t recognize chuckled. “You’re making me jealous, and I don’t think your friend can breathe.”

Eyes flying open Sungmin’s met with dark chocolate brown orbs, slightly crinkled as he laughed. Smiling his eyes roved his friend’s fiancé.

“Nuh-uh!” Hyoyeon’s muffled voice came from where she was hidden. “I don’t want to let go! It’s been years! Besides, you already know my Minnie doesn’t play my field!”

“Doesn’t matter.” The other pouted, winking playfully at Sungmin before he tugged on her. “Any man would get jealous seeing his fiancé wrapped about an attracted young man!”

“You think he’s attractive?” Hyoyeon perked, peering over her shoulder, glaring suspiciously.

Arching his brow the other chuckled and Sungmin found it rather pleasant. “Objectively, yes.”

Hugging her tightly once more Sungmin chuckled, prying his friend from about his diaphragm. Laughing as she remained attached shaking her head stubbornly. Shaking his head he extended his hand.

“Eunhyuk I presume?”

“And Minnie bug?” The other laughed, taking his hand.

“Only Hyo can call me that.” Sungmin deadpanned. “And she barely gets away with it.”

“Only because you call me Kim Yeolsal!” she pouted into his neck childishly.

“I wonder why.” Sungmin laughed rolling his eyes, “Now get down so I can actually see you! It’s been a long time!” he laughed good naturedly.

“Do I have to?” She sulked.

“Yes!” Both men replied, grinning at each other favorably.

Grumbling Hyoyeon’s legs slowly unwrapped from Sungmin as she dropped to the floor, instantly conforming to Eunhyuk’s side.

“So, you’re the famous Eunhyuk.” He chuckled, looking at the pair as they stood happily, Eunhyuk’s arm about the other as she nuzzled into his neck.

“Isn’t he perfect?” she purred.

“Well,” Sungmin laughed, taking in the other’s sharp features and prominent jaw. “Not really my type but quite handsome.” He admitted.

“Thanks!” Eunhyuk beamed happily. “I think…”

“It’s a compliment!” Hyoyeon reassured. “Min rarely calls anyone handsome.”

“Not even to please his best friend?” Eunhyuk teased, nuzzling her face.

Smiling goofily Sungmin felt happy for the pair, his fatigue instantly lifted as he watched Hyoyeon swat at him laughingly.

“Especially not.” She scoffed, crossing her arms in a pout as she tried to hide her smile. “He’s harshest on my lovers.”

“As if you go easy on mine.” Sungmin laughed, rolling his eyes.

“Hey,” she giggled, shrugging happily. “I can only give my friend to the best!”

“Me too.” Sungmin laughed.

“And I got the best!” She squealed, smiling up at Eunhyuk. “Didn’t I?”

Laughing Eunhyuk planted a kiss on her smiling face before looking at Sungmin. “Do I pass?” he asked hopefully.

“I don’t know yet.” Sungmin laughed, eyeing the man. “We shall see.”

Face dropping instantly he looked at Hyoyeon. “Is that good or bad?” he whispered softly.

Rolling his eyes Sungmin restrained a laugh.

“It could be either.” He smirked. “We just have to wait and see.” He crossed his arms, watching the other sulk childishly.

“Hyo,” Eunhyuk wined, “It’s worse than your dad!”

“And unlike daddy,” she laughed, “Minnie doesn’t care about the law!”

“That’s comforting.” Eunhyuk scoffed, looking at the petite man before him. “She told me you do martial arts?”

“As a hobby.” Sungmin smirked.

“Are you any good?”

“I’m decent.”

“Uh, will I die if I make her cry?” he asked carefully.

“I would love to say yes.” Sungmin laughed, “But I know better than anyone that love, laughter and tears are what make a relationship. So I can’t say I’ll kill you for making her cry, after all I have a feeling she will make you cry plenty.” He laughed, dodging the hand that swiped at his head.

“Min!”

“He has a point babe.” Eunhyuk laughed, throwing his hands up defensively. “You do make me cry! A lot!”

“I didn’t mean to drop that book on your toe!” She objected indignantly.

“Still made me cry.” Eunhyuk laughed, dodging a playful hit.

“I do have one condition though.” Sungmin stated, growing serious.

“What’s that?” Eunhyuk asked, face growing somber as he stood, Hyo’s hand in his from where he had trapped it.

Looking at him Sungmin’s eyes were cold and serious. “Never lay you’re hand on her in any manner other than in love.”

“I would never!” Eunhyuk reassured, pulling her into a tight hug. “I love her too much.”

“Remember you said that.” Sungmin smiled coldly. “Because I will.”

“What do you mean?” Eunhyuk asked, blinking in confusion.

“Remember you said you won’t lay a hand against her.”

“I will.” Eunhyuk reassured.

“Good.” Sungmin smiled dangerously. “Because that is something I’ll put you in the ground for.”

Eyes widening fractionally Eunhyuk nodded as Hyoyeon smiled affectionately at Sungmin.

“Thanks Min.” She whispered softly. “But he’s a good guy, you don’t have to worry.”

“I hope not.” Sungmin winked, grinning affably. “I kind of like him.”

“So I pass?!” Eunhyuk exclaimed happily.

“For now.” Sungmin laughed. “So where’s this man of honor guy, or best man, whatever you call him at? Shouldn’t I meet him after all we have a lot of planning to do together!”

“Oh!” Eunhyuk exclaimed happily. “He’s right behind me!” Looking over his shoulder he grinned at a body obscured from view. “Hey, come say hi! This is Hyoyeon’s friend! You said you might have known him!”

“Min,” Hyoyeon said worriedly. “S-stay calm please.” She pleaded.

“What do you mean?” Sungmin asked, smiling brightly as he heard the rustle of fabric. “And what do you mean I might know him.” He asked curiously, tilting his head curiously to peer around Eunhyuk.

“Hyuk,” Hyoyeon exclaimed suddenly, looking nervously at her grinning friend. “I changed my mind; I need to tell him something before we introduce them!”

“Nonsense,” Eunhyuk laughed, releasing Hyoyeon to turn to his friend. “It will only take a second to introduce them and then you can tell him! We have neglected him long enough.”

“No, I am fine really.” A rich voice replied, sending chills over Sungmin’s skin. Instantly he felt clammy as Eunhyuk tugged on a man facing away from him, looking out into the club. “This will only take a second.”

“No,” Hyoyeon objected, looking between the three men apprehensively. “I have to tell hi-”

“Sungmin-ssi,” Eunhyuk grinned politely. “I would like you to meet my best friend from college and my best man, Cho Kyuhyun.”

Eyes growing wide Sungmin felt the genuine smile slide from his face, his fist clenching painfully.

“Uh, Hello Min.” The other’s rich voice said uncertainly, eyes looking at his hopefully. “It’s been aw-”

“What the fuck is he doing here?” Sungmin growled in anguish.

Eyes growing wide Kyuhyun shrank as if struck. Confused Eunhyuk looked between the two men as Hyoyeon reached for him.

“Min,” She said tentatively.

“You knew he would fucking be here?” he hissed, yanking his arm from her.

“You promised you wouldn’t’ be mad.” She objected, eyes wide and watery.

“Forget mad!” He ground, backing towards the door. “I feel utterly betrayed!”

“Min wait.” She pleaded, reaching for him.

“Don’t touch me.” He hissed.

“Minnie,” Kyuhyun tried desperately.

“Don’t!” Sungmin shrieked, glaring hatefully at the other. “You have no right to call me that! Don’t you ever say my name!”

“Min, please calm down.” Hyoyeon begged, reaching for him before she stopped uncertainly, flinching beneath his baleful gaze.

“You know how I feel about him.” Sungmin ground brokenly. “You know!”

“I-I was hoping,” she began uncertainly, drawing her hand to her chest. “I-I guess I was wishing selfishly.” She added softly.

“I’m leaving.” Sungmin growled, spinning out of the room, rushing for the elevator.

“Min!” Hyoyeon yelled, the door slamming behind him.

Stunned Eunhyuk looked between Kyuhyun and Hyoyeon. “What just happened?” He asked worriedly.

“Fuck!” Kyuhyun bit, rushing from the door. “Hyuk, look after her! I’ll talk to him!” he yelled over his shoulder.

“Kyuhyun wait!” Hyoyeon called, racing after him.

“Wait a minute!” Eunhyuk demanded catching her by the wrist. “Kyuhyun said he would go to him! What the hell is going on here?!”

“You don’t understand!” Hyoyeon pleaded, tears streaming down her face. “I made a mistake, I thought enough time had passed and it hadn’t!”

“What are you talking about?” Eunhyuk demanded anxiously.

“I’ll tell you in a minute!” She pleaded, pulling on his arm as she struggled for the door. “But for now we have to catch those two!”

“But why?!”

“Because!” Hyoyeon exclaimed loudly, opting for the stairs instead of the elevator as she tugged a willing Eunhyuk. “Sungmin might kill him!”
