I know you're upset but at the same time, she's just being a parent. You can't exactly fault her or blame her for wanting the best for you, especially after she saw the hell that Kevin put you through. I agree that she could have been a bit more tactful and at least mentioned this privately but I don't think her feelings are unreasonable.

You want her to like Neal and are angry that she doesn't. But from her perspective, there's no reason for her to trust that he's the right guy for you. She doesn't know him, all she knows is that you spend nights with him and that he's older, works two jobs, is divorced, has children...Details. She doesn't know the person behind that and until she does, she's going to be mistrustful. Whether you're 15 or 50, parents simply aren't programmed to love the people you're involved with unless given damn good reason to ( ... )

You are right and I totally agree with you. My whole reason for being upset was that she said this in front of family friends and it was the wrong place and time. Also her scathing tone of voice didn't help either ( ... )

I know, honey. I think it'll be easier for everyone involved when your relationship can be out in the open. Until then, establish reasonable boundaries and try to be patient.
