I'm thinking of picking up the first season of Secret Diary of a Call Girl. I've heard good stuff and I like Billie Piper. Anyone have any thoughts on the show?

Let me damn it with faint praise: first season was adequate, and the second had less oomph. Be prepared to fast forward through the hetero sex.

It's entertaining and there are a fair stream of cute guys. The UK version was better. Don't expect the next sex in the city, she actually does a fabulous job of being quirky yet clearly portraying the downsides of the trade.

She stars in both. The plot if very similar and the first few episodes of both are almost identical, but they diverege a bit after that.

I'm unclear on where the line is and this isn't helpful.

Huh. From everything I've seen, it looks like Showtime just airs the British episodes here. Are you sure you're not just confused between series 1 and 2? :)
