Yet another update! Spawned from boredom. I need to figure out how to decorate my art show. To those of you not familiar with the infamous "art shows," each art student puts one on at the end of the year for an inspector from "the organization". The point is to impress him, so he writes nice things about us in his notepad. My theme (which applies ( Read more... )

Yo, you should totally get those concave and convex mirrors that distort images and decorate your show with those. Or, failing that, get a bunch of mannequins or something and dress the guys up as girls and vice versa. Or make a chimera out of papier mache.

I really like the mirror idea... I'm just not sure I can afford it. And... hmm. I could probably section the show off to a corner of the tennis court (maybe the one you left your knife concealed in? For good luck?), but I had been thinking it would stretch along the fence of it. Eeenteresting. Dressing guys up as girls and girls up as guys is difficult these days, though... they just end up looking... fashionable.

You should build an upside down house & put the pieces inside of it. Not a real house mind you... just take some scrap wood to make a room & then nail chairs & tables and stuff to the inside. Make sure the outside looks normal though... the inside is what's weird. :D

Also... it would be really cool if you wore a mask while you did your art show. Or if you could project your paintings onto objects with flat sides... that would be neat too. I'm sure I'm just spitting out ideas that are too complex. Oops. :/

I'm not sure any of that is doable for me, except maybe the mask (since one of my pieces from last year actually is a mask), but I'm glad you spit out these ideas anyway, they are not bad. :)

I dunno what sort of artwork you do... But I gather it's rather abstract? So maybe you should do facades for your work, or something with very drab, portrait-style/landscape-style/etc-style cases... Then encourage people to open the boxes/curtains, and see what is really behind? I don't know if this even makes any sense...?

That is an interesting idea... and it does make sense... but I'm not too abstract, and it sounds pretty time consuming for someone as lazy as I am. I might have to just shut up and suck it up though, since I'm getting all these good ideas that actually require work.
