I really enjoyed the gameplay of 2, though (as with the first game) I wouldn't consider myself incredibly good at it. It does have mechanics holes for whoring it out, though, like with all Tri-Ace games.
Regarding the story, though...if you play Valkyrie Profile 2, you will spoil part of the plot of 1. Now, it's the part of 1's plot that I don't especially like, but it bears mentioning.
To explain further...you can break down 1's plot into 2 focus areas: the stories of the individual humans that Valkyrie meets and recruits, and the story of the gods/game world/Final-Fantasy-style-shit-that-goes-down. The 'god' plot is...fine. The human plots are wonderful. 2 will spoil the god plot and make little references to a few human plots.
Um, that being said, I'm not against you picking it up, as it does have some cute moments in it, and the game play's entertaining once you get the hang of it.
The cheapest price on Amazon is $15, but that doesn't include shipping. That price isn't bad.
Also, um, if you do happen to get a hold of a copy (emulated or no) of VP1, I mocked up a quick guide for it some time back. I just randomly found it while browsing through my old, unlocked posts. :P
I apologize for the random dropping today out of the game. My router isn't up to snuff regarding hosting, so therefore, my internet was disabled in the middle of the game. Fortunately for me, I received a phone call from Ian asking me if I wanted to go to the mall. Since my internets were no longer working, I took him up on the offer.
The point is, my router makes my internets unstable. You may have to host in the future. Also, you not having a phone makes it hard to explain what the hell happened. That being said, I hope you went on to win the game (although I'm almost positive you didn't.)
I'll shoot you an email letting you know when I'm free this next week. Hopefully we can play more then. (Or in the future, considering I only have class on Friday's basically all day long).
