Yesterday was Mountain Day! Yesterday was the big leadership conference that the campus center holds for all the heads of orgs on campus, and it was really cool! Classes have gone for a week now, and there has been a lot of drama in the meantime. First of all, my drug design class got cancelled because not enough people signed up. I saw the Dave Brubeck Quartet last night at the Academy of Music, and it was AMAZING! Even though he is 85 his piano playing is incredible. The theatre sold out, and there was a huge line of people hoping for last minute tickets. They saved Take Five for last. This morning I was looking at all the NMR spectra I had made yesterday, and I started thinking about the Minds and Molecules class I took first year. I think I'm finally back into the swing of things again after my week of camp. Last week I blew off going to the gym almost everyday to sleep in. I started a kinetic study in the lab where we ran the reaction and monitered the carbon dioxide coming off with an infrared spectrometer and took out samples for NMR every half hour. Hello! I had an incredible week last week. I was a volunteer counselor for Footnotes at Wanakee, which is the camp I used to go to every year. It was an amazing experience. My co-counselor and I had 9 girls: 3 going into 6th grade, 3 going into 7th grade, 2 going into 8th grade, and one going into 9th grade. Half of them had never been to camp ( Read more... )
