Ok, so I have been asked by my boss to poll music students about an upcoming change in the way SCORES are going to be placed in the library and in our online system. This is the part where you come in. The MRC is, from what I understand, going to be no more MRC, but everything is going to either be put in the STACKS (Scores) or the Reading Room ( ( Read more... )

Here at CCM, which is a separate library, has things labeled as scores to dicipher from what is a book and what is a score, it makes sense for them to be called scores. Then if you're searching ANNA you can limit your search to scores that contain the key word Shostakovich, for example, and not have to scroll through all the books that have the keyword of Shostakovich in them. It's like when you search for a CD in the MRC you can limit the searches to just CDs and not books and other materials. That's a huge benefit, who cares if it breaks some sort of library code!!!

Honestly, I didn't even know I still had an account! Haha.
Yeah, I gave up on LJ a loooooooong time ago. If I wanna post anything I just do it on MySpace or Facebook (rarely).

The outcome-
All scores are labeled scores, so the 4th floor has music items that are labeled scores or books. If you see BOOK, it's words, if you see SCORE it's music.

p.s.- Are people still checking this? Hmmmmm......
