GIS terminology can be frighteningly excessive at times, but it can also be amusingly simple. For example, one can "unsplit" arcs. It reminds me of 1984 in a disturbing way, as if I've just received some note from one of those tubes reading ( Read more... )

Katie, I want to thank you so much for this. It won't go unrewarded, for certain. I appreciate this... now I can give my lappie a rest and keep it as a school wizard and not put it through so much hell. This will also facilitate the installation of Auto CAD on the new machine so D can have somewhere to do his enormous work drawings that isn't on his old, crashy machine. It'll help him get more moonlighting done by leaps and bounds!

If anyone wants to contest it, go ahead... I won't be hurt. But I want to say thanks again, Katie.

Hey, no problem. I'm glad it'll be helping somebody out. :) Again, I'm just cleaning the last little bits and pieces of stuff off it, so sometime on the weekend or whenever works for you I can get it to you.

OH! I completely forgot... I'm not sure if I specifically mentioned this in the post, but the computer doesn't have a keyboard or speakers with it, as I'm still using my old ones with the new machine. I still have an old mouse to go with it, but you'd need to find anything else that you need. I hope that's okay :)

I can glean parts from the old 'chine at my mother's place, I'm sure, and speakers are in the budget for the next few months! Thanks for the heads up!
