You know what? I think you should take it personally, because some spoiled immature college town shithead decided to be a prick and not leave their information. They decided to dump it all on you, so why should you give them the benefit of the doubt? Screw em. In moments like this, getting pissed off at the other person and expressing it is the healthiest thing to do, I feel.

As long as you're able to take some deep breaths at the end of it and move on. And at least you have the presence of mind to make an Eddie Izzard reference.

It is a good question. I think the thing is that if you're the kind of person that thinks in these terms, then there's just no alternative. You do it like lemmings running over a cliff or flies buzzing at the glass trying to get outside. I think if you didn't do it, you'd be even less happy, because your unhappiness would be directed at yourself.

What I'm interested in is how people like you (i.e., good people) come about; how come some people wind up being the kinds of people who fuck other people over, and others keep being the kinds who continue to fight the good fight even when they are fucked over. It seems like it's only by incredible luck that there are any people who aren't total jerks. The underground army.
