Ah yes, exactly, I totally agree with you. :) When Kayako was under the covers, I was thinking, this really isn't scary, but if that were happening to me it would really SUCK. :) And I actually get creeped out in the shower quite often, having nothing to do with this movie - our pipes make a freaky noise, just, constantly while the shower is running, so the creepy soundtrack is already there. :) I have super long hair, and whenever I'm washing it, sweeping my hand through it, and that little gush of water hits the floor of the tub behind me, it always makes me feel like somebody just stepped into the tub, behind me. I always wait for someone to touch me. So I kinda connected with the shower scene. And I totally hear you about the mirror, that was one the few bits in the movie I found truly creepy. Reminds me of something...for a few months after I saw the American Ring I found it very hard to go from the living room to my bedroom back in my parents' house at night - remember the shot of Samara receding in the mirror? Well like I said

Yeah, exactly... bed is this nice cozy warm safe place, but if you pulled the covers up and someone were ON YOU and crawling along you about to kill you... well it's funny watching it onscreen but I think it'd be pretty terrifying in person.
aethrykitten, have you seen the Grudge remake yet? What did *you* think, if you have?Well, I've seen bits and pieces of it, and my best friend saw it the other day and we laughed over some stupid stuff she pointed out... overall I think my opinion of it will be the same as my opinion of The Ring - the only thing it has going for it is the shiny special FX budget and higher quality film. They make stupid unnecessary story changes, and I HATE that, especially when it's something that doesn't NEED to be done (like how in The Ring they had Sadako be some kinda adopted kid they brought from somewhere, when she was DEFINITELY her mother's child in the original, and how

Well I'll probably go see both Grudge and Saw, personally.
If it makes you feel any better they did rerelease Ju-on at the Tower Theatre here in Sacramento prior to the release of Grudge; to the best of my knowledge it wasn't a marketing scheme, it was a decision made by someone who just honestly wanted more Americans to get to experience the original. The Tower is cool, I hear its going to close soon. :(
The grudge wasn't scary...at least the American version wasn't. It just seemed like they took to much out of it to make the movie PG-13 and that the missing spots from the re-rating caused confussion and empty space. I'm still looking forward to seeing Ju-On, but I don't know if I'm as excited about seeing it as I was prior to The Grudge.
