not exactly the inseperable kind

i used to go days without seeing you
you're busy

but lately i find myself missing you

nothing compares to the sound of your laugh

thoughts like that just pop up in my mind
and it scares me to think i might like you more than i should

we're known for our story
boy meets boy
friend meets friend

somewhere in between train rides and toys
in those little moments of glitter and spotlight
i found you

yet everyone knows that part
the best friends forever part
the i-think-we're-drifting-apart part
the extreme highs and lows

but what about the precious moments
the seconds that last a lifetime
like your smile when you sing
like your eyes when you're sad

because yes
we have a history

but we have a present
a future
an eternity

so, i pray for an eternity
with you by my side

because somewhere between the shy nods
and soft kisses
and mumbled confessions

paparazzi lullabies
shared secrets in hawaii suites
behind-the-scenes of radio waves

umbrellas on the brighter days
those three words written in the sand
fall for me my shooting star
hold me close on this dark night

tell me that you will remember
tell me that you won't forget
save me, play me drummer boy
take my breath away
