The Lines Will Intersect

“You’re such a sore loser,” Mariya said.

Yuto rolled his eyes. “I wasn’t the one who overreacted when I didn’t get a higher score in Math.”

Mariya frowned. “I didn’t overreact. I was just upset because I studied and didn’t perfect it.”

“You didn’t study for that test,” Yuto said with a smirk.

“Yes I did!~” Mariya said.

“Mhmm. Since when is looking at my pictures studying?” Yuto asked smugly.

“H-h-how?” Mariya stuttered.

Yuto laughed. “Shida emailed me.”

“Oh so it was you Shida was emailing?!” Mariya exclaimed.

“What’s it to you?” Yuto said hiding a smile.

“She kept giggling to herself the whole time,” Mariya mumbled to herself.

“Eh?~ Are you jealous Riya-chan?” Yuto asked poking Mariya’s cheek.

She smacked his hand away. “I am not.”

Yuto smiled.

Yuto checked his watch. “In ten minutes, people will start arriving.”

“What’s your point, Yuto?”

“My point is..it’s time to stand up!” Yuto said. He jumped up and lent Mariya a hand.

Mariya took it and Yuto pulled her up and kissed her.

Mariya blushed as they kissed under the piercing blue sky.

When they broke apart Yuto smiled.

“You are the weirdest person ever,” Mariya said grinning from ear to ear.

“And you’re the prettiest,” Yuto replied.

Mariya laughed at Yuto’s sappiness. She hugged Yuto and he hugged back.

“I have the best mornings in the world,” Mariya whispered as Yuto stroked her hair.

“And I have the best girl,” Yuto teased. Mariya hit Yuto playfully.

“You’re so corny!” Mariya said.

“You’re so beautiful,” Yuto replied.

Mariya rolled her eyes and couldn’t help but laugh.

Yuto smile grew wider and he couldn’t help but fall deeper.

Here, Right Now

“Do you think this is going to last?”

Chinen laughed. “What do you mean, Mirai-chan?”

“Do you think we’re going to last?” Shida asked.

“I don’t know about that,” Chinen replied. “You tell me.”

“Don’t give me that,” Shida snapped.

Chinen smirked. “Do I have to remind you of our love story?”

Shida rolled her eyes. “You make it sound like it was that great.”

“How can it not be? Chinen Yuri got himself a girlfriend. That statement alone makes the story legendary,” Chinen said.

“You are so full of it,” Shida said.

“Aren’t I adorable?” Chinen replied.

Shida smacked the back of Chinen’s head. “How did I end up with you?”

“Well, you couldn’t resist staring at me when we became seatmates.”

Shida scoffed. “Me? Staring at you?” She chuckled. “As if.”

“You couldn’t stand the fact I was smarter than you either,” Chinen quipped.

“Not true,” Shida said calmly.

“You still can’t admit I’m prettier.”

“You are not prettier than me!” Shida retorted.

“Yes I am,” Chinen sing-songed.

“Shut up. Everyone knows I’m so much cuter. Ask the rest of the boys in class,” Shida replied.

“Really now? Yuto and Yamada would totally think I’m cuter,” Chinen said.

“That’s because they’re afraid of you, Chi,” Shida sighed.

“Why would they be afraid of me?”

“Everyone knows you’re secretly evil,” Shida said patting Chinen’s head.

Chinen pouted. “You know you act more like my sister than my girlfriend.”

“And you act like a 5 year old girl, not a 16 year old guy,” Shida said.

“Just because I idolize Ohno does not mean I’m a girl!” Chinen whined.

“I didn’t say anything about him,” Shida replied innocently.

“Of course you didn’t,” Chinen replied icily.

Then Chinen’s phone rang. He got a message.

“Who’s that?” Shida asked.

Chinen smirked. “Dai-chan. We have dance practice for a taping. Ohno-kun’s going to be there too.”

Shida pouted. “That sucks. Now I’ll have to go home and stare at a wall.”

Chinen ignored her and got up.

“Oi, don’t just leave your girlfriend like that,” Shida muttered.

Chinen laughed and kissed Shida lightly. Shida blushed.

“Do you know how messed up we are?” Chinen asked Shida with a smile.

“Why? Because we constantly argue, act like siblings, and think we’re prettier than the other?” Shida said.

Chinen smirked. ‘Something like that.”

“Can I at least walk you there?” Shida asked.

“Sure,” Chinen said taking hold of Shida hand.

“Oh my my my,” Shida said. “What’s this? You’re acting so sweet all of a sudden.”

Chinen stuck his tongue out and Shida giggled. They walked silently under the afternoon sky.

Chinen paused for a second as they got closer to the destination.

“You know I don’t believe in forever?” Chinen said, turning to face Shida.

“I know,” Shida said nodding.

“Then why did you say yes?”

“Because I wanted to, Chinen.”

Chinen looked into Shida’s eyes and he knew that if he needed to, he’d die for the girl.

“I love you,” Chinen said without hesitating.

“More than Ohno?” Shida asked with a smirk.

“Hey! That’s not a fair question,” Chinen complained.

“What do you mean it’s unfair? You love Ohno more don’t you? You can’t even deny it!”

“You’re supposed to say you love me too!” Chinen said and then Shida burst into laughter.

The two bickered all the way to the building until finally Chinen had to go.

Shida decided in her mind that day that she would do everything to make it last.

And at that very same moment, Chinen knew in his heart that he had made the right choice.
