So, yea, I've finally managed to watch POTC 3, with my two sisters who are back home for the holidays. A little late compared to most everyone else but I'm real glad I didn't miss it in the cinema.
Truthfully, this movie was quite weak. I didn't really understand a lot of what was going on in the movie. I think there was too much going on to be able to follow properly. I understood the gist of it, like they're trying to save Jack and all, but a lot of the time, I was just following the plot aimlessly, and just watching for the small scenes. And what is up with Davy Jones' locker? It's just a huge, empty dessert, with a big ship and weird rock-looking crabs. Huh? Overall, POTC 3 was not a great movie, but I still love it. Because there's Jack. And there's Will. <3 And it was just mad fun. POTC 1 still tops all 3 though.
Didn't enjoy:
- how everyone just kept switching ships. It's confusing to keep track of.
- the Brethren Court meeting. Kind of boring, except for the part with Keith Richards, and when the guy with the high-pitched voice said, "We shall go to war!" Lol.
- the length of the movie. They could've cut out a few scenes.
- when they freed Calypso from her mortal body. The best they could come up with was turning her into a giant?! Come on. And I didn't even understand what she was saying after she was a giant.
- how Will and Elizabeth's relationship didn't really get resolved. I mean, they just completely looked over that part where they can't trust each other. I guess, there wasn't enough time to pay attention to that.
- a lot of the ship battles. Darn lengthy.
Loved:
- Keith Richards as Jack's dad. He was just so similar to Jack, except subtle. Wasn't he just too cool? "How's mum?" LOL. He got way too little screen time.
- multiple Jack Sparrows. LOL. You can't have too many Jacks. "Quite a charming fellow, isn't he?" And what's up with Jack and the goat? New OTP?
- the MONKEY. He just stole the whole movie. HA.
- Barbossa and Jack competing over who has the longer telescope. :D
- Bill Nighy. We finally get to see him without the tentacles!
- when Will was stabbed. NOT because he was stabbed, but because I wasn't expecting it AT ALL. That was the only thing that kind of shocked me.
- Will coming back from the dead, as the new Captain of the Flying Dutchman. OMG, I just absolutely loved that scene. When he turned around, my heart went all a-flutter and I was like "Woah." Seriously, he just gained a whole new level of hotness in that scene. I have no idea why. Maybe it's the bandana. Just makes him look so hot. XD Yes, I'm totally loving him in this movie.
- Will proposing and getting married to Elizabeth whilst fighting for their lives in the middle of an epic battle. Ha, that just tops every wedding scene that was ever made. Romantic, hilarious AND awesome.
- at the end, when Jack is left in a small boat, and he looks at his compass and it points to his rum before pointing to the Fountain of Youth. Hee.
- Will/Elizabeth. Aw, I'm back to shipping them again after this movie. I still don't really like Elizabeth, but I'm a sucker for OTPs. After watching the movie, I was quite sad because I thought that they would only get to meet once every 10 years. But after reading at forums, it turns out that actually because she stayed faithful to him and waited for him, Will was freed from his curse and gets to live happily ever after with Liz. That made me SO much happier. Hee.
Argh, damn it. I got too into typing this post that I missed Bones. DARN. Ah well, there's always repeats.
