I get to pretend that this is because we just don't see race, ignoring the fact that this so often goes hand-in-hand with making it so that fandom just doesn't see any non-white characters, either.

I can list a bunch of books by (90% white) authors and say PEOPLE TRIED TO SILENCE THEM JUST LIKE YOU'RE TRYING TO SILENCE ME
