"As food seasoning, or is this the idiom about distrust?"

Still makes me giggle helplessly.

You know how much I love this, but I wanted to mention it again for posterity. Love it. I love your way with female friendships.

now I really, really want genderfucked James Bond (albeit space-colonial, multi-ethnic genderfucked James Bond). I'm not sure I'm up to writing it, but damn, do I want it.

Oh, I want it, too.

I thought this was a lovely slice of life and cultural confusion. Also excellent and vivid physicality for Gaila.

Thank you so much!

I keep thinking that having Gaila as a roommate must have been like striking gold, from a xenolinguistic standpoint, for Uhura. (It's like teachers finally having babies: finally, someone to test all your theories on!) I imagine they have an infinite number of conversations that are just about hashing over the possible confusions in Terran vs. Orion idiom, gesture, body language, pop culture, traditions... and they'd just revel in it. I feel like I was just getting to the interesting stuff when the clock ran out on the story. I may have to do another one.

I really liked this. I can't believe you wrote this in two hours. Well, I can, but you know what I mean.

I might have missed it because I wasn't reading much fic around the time this was posted (illness in the family), but did you post it to any of the Trek communities, like where_no_woman?

Aww, thanks! The vast majority of my output is either a) unfinished, unposted epic novels or b) two-hour improv pieces. This says a lot about my brain on fic, and that is that I need to relax and write faster like everyone always tells me.

I honestly don't know from Trek communities, so, no, not really. Where should it go?

Wow. Where do I start. Definitely post it to where_no_woman, also to teamgaila and teamuhura. There's a Trek genfic community that I keep meaning to join (and have lost the link to), seeing that I write gen fic and all. Very helpful, I know. I follow trek_news mainly to keep an eye out for non-woman-centered genfic, of which there is very little, unfortunately. Okay. trek_fic and st_reboot round out the fic communities that might find some more readers for your little story.

So you're a Star Trek fan from way back, or just of the new movie and cast?

Since I was... eleven? twelve? About that. I am sort of panamorous when it comes to Trek, I think.

Thanks for the links, I am way behind! I'll post it around.

I love this so much, especially the little glimpses into Orion culture. Great job!
