I've always found Sherlock's drug use to be curious in its absence in the BBC version. In the original is so prevalent. :( poor fellow.

I know. The only thing we got in canon was the nod towards cigarettes and the "past" addiction which he cleared using nicotine patches? I think? Idk apart from that one mention, we didn't get anything. In ACD Cocaine was practically a way of life for Holmes. And I do know that you'll never be 'cured' of an addition, and it never goes away. I assume it would be the same for Sherlock.

They really should have said more about it, because it would have been the great 'humaniser', I think. Sherlock Holmes is great and miles above normal human beings but his body is still human, and even he can't logic away addictions.

I always took the time that John went through his sock drawer to be looking for something more than Cigs. I think Mycroft offering him one after Irene's "death" was an indicator of if he would go back to the harder stuff or not, which is why Mycroft called and told John to cancel his plans. I don't think he'd do that if he was afraid Sherlock would go through a pack or two.

I feel like the issue is probably BBC cultural standards. In comparison to US standards they seem strange, because here blood/drugs/violence is fine....but two men kissing is right out. Either way I feel like the drugs are there but only to the observant.

You are very, very kind to say so *hugs* Thank you so much! I'm really glad you're enjoying it. it's a bit of an emotional outpouring after the last episode, tbh, but there is more to come hopefully before sunday evening. Thank you again. I hope you're not disappointed by what you find. xxx LM
