you've moved to Portland, I see... I hope it's awesome over there for you, eventually. And if you come visit through SF and want some new ink, I'd be honored to do it.

Well now... if I'm ever in CA again, maybe a trip up north is warranted - I'm itching for some new ink, and I like what I see! :)

well, that would be lovely, and an honor. Besides, if you are ever in CA again, ink or no ink, San Francisco needs to see you.

Excellent. I haven't been in SF since... 2oo4? But before this I used to live in Berkeley. Would be nice to see how it's all changed (or not) and of course, meet & hang with you.

I'm glad you mentioned cover work in this entry, cos for some years I have been contemplating a full back piece, covering a medium size that's already there, and generally being awesome. Up for it? We can exchange photos & maybe you could give me a rough estimate of time and cost.

It's all different. All the time. Even from the time I used to visit to the time I moved here to now. I s'pose that's the way the cookie crumbles. Or life does.

As far as your back piece goes, if you wanted me to do it, it would be my first. I am at the end of my apprenticeship, only a few hundred tattoos under my belt, and what I have uncovered is that my strength is in my own style. Which is not traditional at all. More drawing and painting-like. Hard to describe, but it feels like the images come out of the skin when I chisel at it a little bit, not that I put them there. I have a lot more work to show for you to see what I mean, but our website has been fucked for a while so I have not been able to upload.

And of course, whether or not you have me do it, I am curious to see what you got, what you want instead, and think about how I would work it to do the piece.
