Day 15 - Warnings - What do you feel it most important to warn for, and what's the strangest thing you've warned for in a vid?
I warn for strong physiological triggers like strobe cutting. As for psychological triggers, it's harder because you don't always know what will set who off. I don't usually warn for violence unless it's really gory. I will warn for sexual violence. I usually warn for nudity/sex in case some poor soul is watching at work. I will warn for strong language if fuck fuckity motherfucker forms about 50% of the lyrics.
The hard part is balancing the warning against instances where I don't want to show my narrative/thematic hand too early. I felt that way about the Oedipus complex in Mama, or about the potential child grooming reading in Candyman. It takes the fun out of making the audience slowly piece it together. So when in doubt, I tend to just go with "themes may disturb, view at your own discretion". Nice wide catch-all.
