Hello Everyone,

At this time, I’m not accepting memberships to obsessive_caps but rather leaving them on hold. This has nothing to do with fandom, behavior in the comm, wank, people, etc. Everyone in this comm has been wonderful

I may have complete RARs for some of what's gone bye-bye. If you can give me a list, I can check it against what I've got.

I think the RARs are in tact but I'm not sure. I’ll go ahead and print the directory for you.

What they did a really good job of wiping out were the pngs and corresponding directory structure. Essentially, all the picspam posts will be broken until I can recreate those directories with the exact same names and the upload the images. Since this comm has over 1000 posts, reposting with new names and then updating the posts is simply not feasible.

I all but accused the old host of disabling my account to cover their ass for a data loss issue.

I have all the images but the directories are named differently on my local machine :) It's just a lot of work!

Wow. Unbelievable. What they did and your tenacity. Thank you for your efforts and determination.

Now forget all about it for the time being. We'll still be here, ready to gobble up whatever you post for us when you return. I know I said forget it and enjoy your holiday but here's something to think about...

I told my hubby what happened to you (he's a techie), and based on the info you gave, his mind went straight to the idea that they fucked up your stuff and made the whole thing up. Anyway, he wanted me to tell you that if they "lost" the back ups then they lost other back ups too and they're pulling this shit on other people too, 'cause they couldn't have lost just your stuff. He says, get somebody to send a message signed, Esquire hinting at class action.

The nice thing about computer stuff is that it all goes away when you push a button. Well, theoretically, anyway.

How can they admit that they were wrong and still won't leave the site up? And the fact that you lost the data that was there, just, seriously. At least you know not to do business with them again.
