Woken too early by this baby, again, and I find its raining and the leaves of the bamboo flash slippery in the wetling dark of the neighbors porchlight. I am half asleep and only the cats are pleased that we have risen and replenish their catfood sooner than expected, save them from the predations of racoons who have made our back doorstep a stop

My husband fed them a while back, took pity - that most delinquent of emotions. They enjoyed a muffin and now the catfood set outside halftimes to keep it out of the fingers of The Baby.
