Too often we, as Americans, have it far too easy. We know that in this consumer based society there is a way that our needs can always be met. Example:: you want Mt. as for their being a problem, well, i can't agree. there is no problem -- problems are a result of standards. standards are silly. as for whether there are less complicated, more efficient ways, ones that will force us to inflict less suffering on ourselves -- yes, there are those ways. but there is no problem. the only problems are the ones we've made, and i don't mean, for example, global warming, but rather being stuck in our heads, stuck in our hearts. this isn't to say we shouldn't do what we can to correct the damage we've done, or even that we shouldn't try to prevent damage in the future. you know me well enough to know i wouldn't suggest that. but the real problem, the real damage to everyone's quality of life, that's all in our heads. only when we solve those problems do we have the potential of solving everything else.
