Everywhere? Perhaps you are seeing things that are not there, as this place has not been quite so desolate as it is now. Or...so I would assume. That is, unless, by "they" you refer to something less substantial than humans? Shadows, perhaps? Because we do seem to have an abundance of those, as of late.

A trick of the shadows and nothing more, I would surmise. Unless there is an infestation of rodents, which would be most unfortunate for some of those here. Though I would not mind seeing a plague of such beasts beset upon certain members of the faculty.
