Marx died in 1883. The only reason he thought religion was the opiate of the masses was because he didn't live long enough to see television.

I'd never heard the phrase beetroot-alcohol. Google brings us some interesting science experiments when you search on the term.

Browse: TV is a timewaster, but opiate? Does it tend to make people mellow and satisfied? I thought everyone was up in arms about LOST or SIENFIELD or something. (I don't own/watch TV, does it show?)
