Jun stared at the door long after Sho had left, the familiar rumble of Sho’s car slowly fading out barely registering in his mind.
Ohgod. What have I done?
“Jun?” Aiba said so softly Jun almost missed him.
Tearing his gaze away from the door, Jun turned to look at Aiba questioningly.
Aiba, slightly taken aback by Jun’s calm attitude, took a deep breath before continuing, “Shouldn’t you… Won’t you go after him?”
“Why should I?”
“What you said wasn’t true right? He misunderstood so shouldn’t you go and explain matters to him?”
Jun was looking everywhere other than Aiba. “If he wanted to know, he could have asked what was happening but instead he decides to run away. Don’t worry. He’ll come back soon.” But despite his confident exterior, Jun couldn’t be anymore uncertain.
The tears clouded his vision. He didn’t care and slammed onto the gas pedal. His hands clenched onto the steering wheel so hard, his knuckles turned white. He didn’t see the headlights of the oncoming truck nor did he hear the consistent honking. All he could see was Jun with Aiba and all he could hear was Jun’s words. He didn’t even register the fact that the two vehicles collided until he was suddenly upside down and there was only pain. The tears kept falling and he was surrounded by darkness. It was so inviting, as if it was welcoming him with open arms, beckoning him to come over here, forget your pain… come… come… He soon resigned to the warmth and comfort of the darkness.
Sho didn’t come back.
