2011-12-14 - Mythical

When I was your conquest
When you looked at me and treated me
With adoration and intoxication
You were mythical

When you tried to impress me
When you longed for me
My attraction to you was indomitable
And I could not resist you

But after the fantasy had been sated
And curiosity was pleased
The tigress relaxed from her hunt
And you seemed a different person to me

Still filled with companionship
But arms less welcoming-
     Less eager- less inviting-
You seemed so much farther away

Astrology accurately predicts that
One born under my stars will
Be a demanding lover and
Must be made to feel very special

Feeling unwanted, or low-priority in
The eyes of a lover or mate
Turns me to withdraw-
To seek solitude behind my walls-
And within that place I shall stay

So to you who I truly-
     And never would unduly-
     Love and adore so much-

I think I must stay away-
Or simply learn how to play-
As this different man that I’ve become-
     To you...
