Thank you. These are AMAZING. I thought the Chrismukkah espisode would be my favorite Ben/Ryan one, but this might replace it.
You've captured it all here and I've been reliving it all, starting with Ben working the eyes so well. As I watch his reactions and pain unfold in the scene in the mall, I've got the tears welling up again. He had me right at that first response and never let go. These caps show the impact of the news and the burden that literally unsettles him to the core and drags him down.
There are shots reminiscent of "The Gamble" both in the closed off expressions we saw in Juvie and in the poolhouse and also the slightly hopeful, but very fearful and nervous trepidation, vulnerability and guardedness all encompassed in one. Incredible.
You've got the tension, the heightened emotions, the contagious smiles that make me smile in return- to a screen nonetheless!- and the wonderful connectivity on all levels.
Oh, Beach, my dear. I watched that mall scene 10 times already, and i've yet to see it clearly. My eyes just keep gets blurry. It was really one of the best acted scenes i ever saw on this show. And then, when he leaned towards Peter, saying "My dad is right here", i just sobbed. Ben was so magnificent, every inch of the way. The drama, the comedy, the tenderness. I have no idea what am i going to do without having him on my screen every week. Damn, i'm tearing again.
I'm right there with you. I was crying by the beginning of the mall scene and it was all because of Ben's eyes, face and posture. His whole being just screamed for a hug yet he also was trying desperately to be whole and contained. There was such an emotional and physical tug-of-war and he made it all come to life in front of the camera. It hit me so unexpectedly.
He and Peter were so intense and really had that incredible, unnerving focus and eye contact that was just impossible not to become drawn into. Amazing. Then, when they separated, it was so obvious Sandy was torn about what to do and not sure if he should even leave and Ryan looked ready to crumple. The counter practically supported him.
The "Dad" line and that whole exchange was precious and priceless and pure gold. It was in character and the deliveries and pace and inflections were flawless.
This makes me mourn all we missed and will never see, even if I'll treasure it.
Peter totally blew my mind. Just remind me that he was another casualty of the horrendous season 3 and so much of season 2. Such a wonderful actor. He played the best dad ever magnificently. And yes, he's got something very special with Ben.
Baby Ryan picture! Yeah! Squeeeeeeeee! Love it! Love it! Love it! I was so hoping that this would show up. THANK YOU! That was so adorable. I don't know, how we are supposed to live without that in the future.
That pic is precious. I'm not sure if Ben was blushing for real at those lines or if he even had to act. Whenever they throw in that sort of gush, like with freaky Chilli "checking him out," it has to be a little uncomfortable. It IS adorable for us to watch though!
