Why can't I help when I really need to?

Maybe I am just some stupid little kid.

The post was supposed to stop there... but it didn't... )

Mr. Link, you can't believe that. What I've seen of you makes you more mature than a lot of adults I know. Don't let anyone ever tell you different.

Trust me, I know how hard it is to feel useless. The important thing is to trust that you'll figure it out, eventually. You just need to keep trying.

But then why can't I help... her...

I don't even know her name

Names? Why do you need to know someone's name to stand by them and stand strong?

It may not always be obvious what the best thing to do is, but then you just got to do what little you can figure out.

It can be hard being a kid sometimes and trying to help...

*pauses*

Wait...used to be?

Used to be what...?

[There's a pause as he realizes what he posted]

I... uh...

It... it's a long story...

I... I was a-asleep for seven years... it's a long story...

A lot of people have 'long stories' here it seems.

Oh. Wow.

*awkward silence*

I really wish I could give you some better advice or help. The only thing that's ever earned me respect despite my age is just my drive to follow in my father's footsteps. I do what I can to help other people like he did and that's what makes me a strong person...I guess.

M-maybe, I could tell you it another day? Not over the network?

[Sigh] I... I never had a father, or a mother...

I just do what I do because I want to do what's right...

and I like helping people

*grumbling*Oh, come on, don't tell me you're upset too?

Link, trust me, age doesn't matter. You do what you can and if that doesn't work you just keep trying until something does.

If you give up then that's when you'll be a stupid little kid.

But everything was so much eaiser when I was 17...

I...

Yeah, and life would be easier if I could see but you don't hear me griping about it. I just found a way around it.

Look, that's noble and all, but I'm pretty sure you can't help everyone and some people might not even want your help. That's just the way it is.

You're not. Age has nothing to do with it. [says the fourteen year old, of course]

If you try to help and it doesn't work, try another way! Keep trying until you find something that does work.

...what do you mean, used to be?

I know, I know it's just... [Trails off]

[Sigh]

I was too young to use the Master Sword... So I was put to sleep for seven years... it's a long story...

Just what? If you want to help so much, then there's no reason to give up. Not while you still have options.

[not the answer he was expecting, but then he's not sure how he was expecting that question to be answered] ...time travel?

She was being difficult... I... I don't even know what to do. I saved Hyrule, why can't I help her?

Uh... N-no, not really...

It was like... one second I'm a little kid... and the next I'm... not.

I didn't even know I could grow up when that happened.

Oh, please. You can't honestly be taking that idiot seriously. They're delusional at best.

I, for one, love the look on people's face when I tell them how old I really am. I can run scientific circles around most of the adults here and kick their ass before their head spins back around to the front again. My ten-year-old brother too, only without the ass kicking part.

I'm not, I don't care what they think... but my friend is beating herself up over it, and I don't know what to do help her.
