--THE BASICS--

How do you feel about 4th wall breaking?
Fine with me! /o/ Though I fear most of the jokes and references would probably fly right over his head, alas.

Is there something specific that you don't want anyone to know about your character?:
Nothing that I can name outright at present, I don’t think…

How do you feel about threadjacking?:
Spontaneous loveliness!

What about spamming your posts?:
Also welcome! ...Almost encouraged, really >__>

How about sudden action threads?:
As long as it makes sense, sure!

--THE CHARACTER--

Name:
Ukitake Jushiro

What species is your character?:
Though he may seem like it on outward appearance or physical contact, Ukitake isn’t really human - rather, he’s a spiritual entity. A ‘new soul’ to be nitpickingly specific, actually, since he was literally born in Soul Society and has never been reincarnated there from the Living World.

Is there anything strange in your character's blood, DNA, etc that other characters might be able to sense?:
Weeell…spiritual entities in Bleach have predominantly human physical traits, by the looks of it. But they're still made of different stuff from humans, and can withstand heavy injuries and illness to a higher degree; things like extreme blood loss and severe wounds seem to take a bit longer to fully weigh their tolls the way it would on human beings.

On a more personal level, Ukitake harbors an illness in his lungs, one that’s been around for possibly a few thousand years - most of his lifetime, more or less. It’s a very persistent ailment that a cure has yet to be found for, even by the best. :| Though it hasn’t canonically been given a name, general fandom seems to suspect that it’s tuberculosis. It’s not actively contagious anymore, but the aftereffects still plague him on a fairly regular (and often inconvenient) basis. So, if your char is attuned to sicknesses of that sort…..

What does your character's soul look like?:
Oceanic in color - shifting hues from blue to green to gray and stuff, with the occasional flecks of white, I’d think. /o/ It’s glowy and calm, with a peacefully unassuming expression.

Is it possible to read anything from your character's soul?:
Yup! The first and most prominent thing that one might note would be that it’s - well, old, all things considered. Not insanely ancient or anything like that, but simply aged. There’s going to be knowledge and wisdom there, a sense of peace, and a strong undercurrent of tiredness - after all, he’s been fighting a rather nasty internal battle for a very long time. Directly after this, however, you also get a warm, almost overwhelming impression of simple kindness. He’s got a good heart, and his intentions almost always mean well in every way. He’s just seen a lot of things, both good and bad in equal extremities; it’s what you get for having a long life.

Does your character have an ability that others might be able to sense?:
Ukitake, like any respectable shinigami, has reiatsu - aka spiritual pressure. This is a sort of energy gradually built up by most spiritual beings that, when nurtured, can eventually be manipulated into various forms of attack. As its name directly implies, actively manifested reiatsu feels like a sort of pressure weighing down on top of you; the greater the amounts of reiatsu, the heavier that pressure becomes, to the point that it can even cripple and suffocate enemies that aren’t tolerant with its very presence.

As a Captain-class shinigami, Ukitake has an immense amount of reiatsu in storage - but, fortunately for all you normal people, he keeps it firmly in check almost all the time, safely pent up inside of himself to the point where you don’t notice its presence at all if you aren’t attuned. Complete suppression is a lot of trouble and fairly unreasonable unless you’re trying to actively conceal it, however - so, characters that can sense atmospheres and so on might pick up on a habitually restrained, neutral energy hanging about him under normal circumstances. When he performs abilities such as kido or shikai release, on the other hand, his reiatsu will also make itself more apparent, though the amount let out will depend on the situation.

Is your character surrounded by something else that might somehow 'stick'?:
Well, as a spiritual being, something might be bound to stand out, though the nature of that factor will likely depend more on your specific character. On the other hand, Ukitake would likely smell very faintly of sake, the sanitary whiff of a hospital, and more prominently of tea, with a bit of blood mixed in on days of less-than-wonderful health. Maybe a very, very distant oceanic tang and ozone as well, given the (possible?) nature of his zanpakuto.

Can your character’s thoughts be read?:
General surface thoughts, yes. Digging in will require a bit more effort, on the other hand - and, be warned, it will be noticed, as will be explained further down the post~

If your char pokes around long enough, they may pick up on an additional pair of voices speaking in tandem to Ukitake’s own thoughts - almost like a conversational inner monologue. These two voices consist of Ukitake’s zanpakuto, Sogyo no Kotowari.

Is it possible to communicate with your character through telepathy?:
Yes. Though Ukitake himself does not know how to actively send out telepathic thoughts, he can pick up on them well enough. Sogyo no Kotowari can also be directly spoken to if the opportunity is made apparent, though they will be leery of the contact.

Is it possible to see what your character is doing through psychic powers?:
Yeah, sure, go for it. Just be sure to toss me a note first!

Is it possible to sense your character's location somehow?:
On a usual basis, yes. However, if somebody makes it a habit of locating Ukitake just via reiatsu, it’ll be made very difficult if he decides to actively mask it for whatever reason. In which case, let me know, and we’ll work out how accurate the locating process should be, and what they’ll be able to discern of it.

Is it possible to sense your character's emotions? Intentions?:
Yes. Ukitake isn’t really particularly guarded about what he feels - he’s normally quite open with his emotions and opinions on matters, as he usually doesn’t see any immediate reason to do otherwise. However, then again, there may be times when he will wish to bar his feelings from others - moments of conflict or internal distress that he doesn’t want to burden on those around him. But, even during these times, I’d think it would be fairly easy to lay them bare anyway. He’s not very good at hiding those sorts of things even normally. |D’

Does your character have any mental walls or defenses up?:
Ukitake, like most shinigami, has a zanpakuto (Soul Cutter) in his possession - a sort of ‘living sword’, if you would. This sword contains a spirit that is born of the nature of the user’s mind and heart, and the name of Ukitake’s is Sogyo no Kotowari.

As Sogyo no Kotowari is always residing inside of him, they will instantly be aware if somebody tries to break into Ukitake’s head against his wishes. And, depending on the intentions of the intruder, their reaction may range from curious to wary to outright defensive - though most of the time curiosity will be the most likely of the three. Telepathy is not a common element in the Bleach universe, and zanpakuto usually don't have to deal with it in the entirety of their weilder's lifetime. Should the intentions of the intruder turn out to be malicious, however, the trespasser will be delayed from proceeding further into Ukitake’s mental region, and will either be stopped short, suddenly and abruptly punted out, or rerouted to a part of his inner world instead, where his zanpakuto will make themselves known and investigate the situation thusly.

At the very worst, it will be extremely difficult - if not almost impossible - to bypass Sogyo no Kotowari, should they decide they don't want you in there; they are a very old and powerful zanpakuto spirit. Still, this largely depends on the abilities of your character. Poke me if your character plans a break-in before actually going through with it, and we can sort out the finer details of the situation in that order! 8)

Can your character be mind-controlled?:
With a bit of a stretch, I’ll say yes - but I imagine it will be quite spectacularly difficult to actually establish the control to start with, due to the details mentioned above.

Still, on the chance that the mind-control succeeds, I’d say it would be fairly effective, but there will always be variables, and I'm sure this sort of things differs by the individual administering said mind-control in the first place. So! Be sure to let me know before doing anything in that respect, please. :d It’ll be quite a bit easier to work out things that way.

Is it okay to approach you about hacking private threads? Alternatively, how technologically gifted is your character?
Sure it’s alright to approach! By default it would be nice if you ask first before having your char toss about info picked up in private threads, of course, but in general we can happily assume that said threads are quite hackable, if they’re placed on that setting by Ukitake himself. The most recent era of the living world before it blew up - the modern one that we all know - is the one that he’s really the most unfamiliar with, what with the sudden abrupt explosion of new technologies and concepts XD; He’s used to the concept of electricity and computers and databases and stuff, of course, but he’s a very average PC user, barely scraping the basic knowledge department atm.

HOWEVER! The above applies to a scenario in which he's using the Guide's standard filter system. Other times, you may find him utilizing the Urahara Filter System instead, in which case there are a different set of guidelines entirely~ Do click the link for further info! Summing it up in a nutshell, though, Urahara's filters are pretty much unhackable, and even if you decide to try, your device will start playing some...interesting music 8D;

Has your character died before? Can other characters pick up on this?
Lmao actually…even though he is a shinigami, and he is very much a spirit from the afterlife, Ukitake has never died before. /o/ We’re going by reincarnation theory here, hurhurr: Basically, the general consensus in the Bleach universe is that people who die in the living world are transported to Soul Society, and those that die in Soul Society are reborn in the living world. This being said, ‘new souls’ occasionally crop up - souls that have never existed, until they are born in one world or the other. Dunno about the living world, but by my headcanon, in Soul Society, noble families seem to be the only junctions that actively conceive children…if that makes any sense. :\ Ukitake’s from a minor noble house himself, hence his own status as a ‘new soul’.

SO IN A NUTSHELL - nope, this death god’s never…actually died himself. Been sticking around tenaciously for two thousand years and counting! XD; However, seeing as he is a shinigami, and technically hails from the afterlife, I suppose your character could sense something there…?

--THE FIGHT--

Is he/she a capable fighter?:
Oh goodness yes. He may seem like an unassuming old man, but this same old man could probably soundly kick your ass…on a good day, of course. By the standards of the Bleach universe he's quite powerful, being a Captain-class shinigami, one of the oldest, and one of the most experienced, as well. 8| Of course, he’ll almost never use the full extent of his abilities if they aren’t necessary; he’d prefer to resolve a problem without fighting at all, and if there are innocent bystanders or children in the vicinity there’s almost no way in hell he’s going to go all out.

Can I punch/cut/shoot/hit with a car/stab/HURT IN GENERAL?:
Of course! Just no severed limbs and/or other means of permanent maiming, please.

Can I kill him/her?:
Normally, no. Not unless I’m planning to leave the game, or he’ll be revived at some point down the line. :o Buuut the ways of plots are strange and devious. Poke me firsthand, posthaste, and we shall discuss!

In terms of winning and losing, where would you rather they stand?:
It all depends on the opponent, of course. I don’t mind either way, to be honest - as long as it’s plausible and sensible for the situation!

Would you rather fade to black and just assume what happened?:
O-Orz, yes, if it comes to that. Everybody gets tired in fight logs after a bit, and I’m a rather slow tagger as it is, usually. ^.^’

--THE LOVE--

So, can I fall in love with him/her?:
Sure! 8) Mind you, though, he won’t...really reciprocate under usual circumstances, for various reasons covered in other headcanon-dump posts in this journal. >_> Still though, perhaps something might give, with the right quantities of CR and interaction.

Can I hit it?:
AHAHAHAHA

HA

HAHA

Why would you ever ...S-Sure? I guess?? If by some improbable means your character somehow gets Ukitake to that point? :U Some warning or discussion beforehand would certainly nice, though, if only for the sake of slightly decreased volumes of hideousness.

Can I kiss him/her?:
Meh, go for it! This guy always needs some more fluster in his life anyhow. :D Of course, his reactions will differ depending on how sincere the kiss is, when it’s delivered, or who it’s delivered by, ahaha

What's his/her orientation anyway?:
Kubo has...made absolutely no indication one way or the other, so for now Iiii’m gonna go on a limb and say he’s straight - or at least, bisexual with much more of a preference for women, anyway.

Are you willing to play out any relationships?:
Aaah, well, I’m not…exactly wonderful with them. ._. This sort of thing is best played by ear and with hearty grains of salt - discuss first, if you've a mind to go for that tangent, and we shall see!

And with castmates?:
Same
