I've been thinking about this for a few days now, and I've gotta get it out of my system before I start working on this damn paper ( Read more... )

it IS like the Mets winning the world series: fucking awesome.

c'mon, we're not ALL Yankees fans, geezzzzz.

and although i would like to believe we will see drastic change, i don't think we will. the country is too tumultuous right now to not take little baby steps.

Sorry MIchelle! I guess it's the whole Mahopac mindset, I just forget that not everyone loves the Yankees. And I totally agree about the tumultuous baby step thing.

I feel exactly the same way! I know there are lots of comments like that, but I mean this one pretty literally.

So having Obama win and Congress be Democrat has actually lifted a huge weight that I didn't even really know existed
Like this! See, I am also really cynical about politics, especially party politics, so I was surprised myself when I felt a huge relief Tuesday night.

and it's incredibly surreal (not in the sense of the surrealist movement, you silly people! Obama's head is not a giant egg or something.)
this too!

I am wondering what will happen regarding putting the country back together, too. But for now I'm trying to be optimistic--at least until February!

I'm glad you said it (namely the third paragraph), because I was contemplating writing a very similar entry. Maybe it's because my CRAZY suitemate supports Obama in a way that's so very cliche and obnoxious, maybe I too am just cynical, but I dislike that everyone is so positively convinced that Obama is the end-all, supreme, definitive answer, you know? I mean, I voted for him, happy that he won and hoping that his presidency will turn things around, but I'm not...I don't know, jumping up and down?

In essence, what I'm trying to say here (in not-quite-so eloquent terms) is you go, Ms. Sherman.

Also, stop having problems :(

Also, I've been on antibiotics and, as such, on a perpetual trip to Loopy Town - which always reminds me of you. Can we please try to see each other more often over breaks?!

Ms. Hanrahan, I believe it is vital for us to spend more time together over break. I'm not sure if you're aware, but your life actually depends upon it. (And it's so sweet that being crazy remind you of me. It also reminds me of Mr. A?)
