[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]

Name: Xelha (pronounced SHELL-a)
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Fandom: Baten Kaitos
Timeline: Post-death
History: Here!

Personality: At the start of the game, Xelha seems like your typical blonde love interest magic user, and the fact that her first three signature moves are light based only seems to further this impression. Due to the nature of the game's battle system, the primary healer is whoever the player wants it to be, but if Baten Kaitos was your standard RPG, Xelha would almost certainly be the healer. She's energetic and optimistic, and she always tries to look to the bright side of any given situation.

She shows an ability for being able to predict what her opponents will do, and based on the facts that she has, she's consistently able to gauge people's actions, and conduct herself and her own plans accordingly. When something completely unpredictable happens, she is able to get herself together relatively quickly and construct a new plan.

Xelha is the last of the Ice Queens of Wazn, a line of (said to be) very powerful witches. She doesn't tell the party because They Didn't Ask, not even when it's decided that searching for this queen is their only hope. You don't find out until she just walks right up into Kaffaljidhma, her castle. She says that it wasn't important when she's asked about it. She's consistent in this, in that she's very secretive about herself, only giving people the minimum that they ask for.

At one point toward the beginning of the game the main character tells her that the rulers of nations won't listen to the words of a girl. Instead of being all "Bitch, please, I'm the Ice Queen," she just sighs sadly and says she'll try her best. The only times she ever acts bossy are when the main character tries to leave and do his own thing. She never gives up no matter what the costs are, even if it places her in great physical pain. If something's not working, she pushes harder until it does or she gives out.

Abilities: Xelha has to prove her strength more than once throughout the course of the game. One of the ways that this manifests itself is as an optional dungeon, and the other is with a boss fight that you'll only have her for. It isn't the first time she fights by herself - after a certain plot point her teammates all get separated, and she has to rescue them. There's a boss battle for each one, and one of these you fight with just her. Out of her nine finishing moves, four of them are light-based. The majority of monsters in the game, especially bosses, are weak to it, and because of this she's a valuable asset. Her attack power is not the best, but she more than makes up for it by being one of the characters with whom it's relatively easy to get elemental bonuses. Aside from her magic power, she also has a great deal of stamina, being able to use her wing to fly good distances. She's very agile, both in battle and in other situations.

Weaknesses: Physically, Xelha is not the strongest person. She uses magic attacks for more than one reason. She's a little frail and can be easily overpowered. Neither her attack nor her defense are the best, and her armor is only comparable to heavier armors, not stronger to make up for her weaker stats. She is from an ice country, and when they go to the desert nation, one can reasonably draw the conclusion that she's using her powers to keep herself cool. Being in the desert without her powers will make her more exhausted, faster.

Her mental and emotional weaknesses are a little harder to discern. She is naive and trusting, and forgives people perhaps a bit too easily. Her greatest moments of weakness come when she's bound up by herself, falling into despair rather quickly. She's optimistic, but she lacks that trait when she needs it most. Her biggest weakness is her keeping secrets from others. She only answers with the bare minimum when asked questions, only giving what is asked for, or finding a way to avoid it entirely. She finds herself faced with her own fate, to die at their journey's end, time and again, and while she knows what that will mean, she does not want it, and she wishes more than anything else that she could be a normal girl and not bear such a weight.

[ MEISTER ONLY SECTION ]

Why your character should be a Meister: Xelha wants to do everything she can to protect people by whatever means necessary, and it will be more natural to her to be the power assisting the Weapon rather than the Weapon itself.

Meister Ability: Icy Soul

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]

Soul Description: kind, brave, spiritual, dedicated, secretive, humble

Soul Appearance: Xelha's soul is a golden yellow. It has her warm brown eyes, and a soft smile.

[ SAMPLES ]

First Person:

Our opponents here are witches. [She sighs.] That just seems so strange to me. Back home, the witches were a great help to my friends and I on our journey. It's very difficult to imagine them being enemies.

Does anyone else here have witches in their world? If you do, are they enemies or friends?

Third Person: Ah, so in the end, the one thing she wanted, she cannot have. She isn't bitter, though, because the cost is more than worth it. She's sad, but what the world has gotten in return is so dear to her, and she cannot make herself wish even for a second to take it back. This would have been so much easier had she never met him, but she knows he'll find happiness.

She's drifting for so long, it feels, until she finds herself waking. Her first thought is almost panic, but she quells it as soon as she is able. No, Cor Hydrae has been banished to another dimension, and while she knows she's in one that is not her home, she also knows that the gods would not be so cruel to exile her there. She does not panic, though she felt almost instantly on waking that she's been stripped of her powers. She's wary without a means to defend herself, but she refuses to believe that she's in immediate danger.

When the screens turn on and the man - Spirit - begins talking, she listens. As soon as he mentions that their opponents here are Witches, she thinks it's very strange, and she's almost angered. Why would the Witches be attacking the city? The thought is so alien to her, she almost doesn't believe it. He can't know she's a Witch herself - he doesn't strike her as the type to be saying that if he knew she was. She forces herself to calm down, and wait for the chance to get some answers.
