Apologies to anyone who came by a couple of days ago and saw a lot of personal stuff. Three cheers for overeducation not teaching me to categorize correctly

I really don't think anyone should use you as a lowest common denominator self-learning, as your adventures in home repair prove. (because they're successful home repairs, you see?)
The theme for our program is characters from children's books. My imagination is failing me utterly. Despite the fact that I don't even LIKE the Harry Potter, the only thing I can think of is to go as ... a character from the Harry Potter books. I'm thinking my old black graduation gown, white blouse, tie, skirt, black shoes. Buy Harry Potter patch for robe and knit house scarf, chopstick and presto. Except that the scarf making is being postposed while unpacking so becoming increasingly unlike to start, let alone finish by Oct 31.
Maybe I'll go as myself, if someone asks what I'll say the Great Pumpkin ... then run away before anyone else gets a look. (OK, comic strips not actually children's literature. Damn.)

Heh, I looked at it when I was fixing the category, and it was cringe-worthy.
I am really grateful for the chance to do my job, but sometimes it's hard to make sense of the world. Not sure if that makes for exciting blogging, so I just put in my own journal.
It has just occurred to me that technically TS Eliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" is a children's book, so you could do unitard/kitty ears/tail/facepaint. Or puff-sleeved dress, knee socks, hairband for Alice.

(BTW I'm curious--are you going as The Doctor? In which case you'll need to do the equivalent of several normal scarves.)
