I hope you enjoy them! Which caught your interest? The Egans are very dry (idea outshines plot or characterization), but the others are all pretty readable, I think.

Mainly Diaspora and Factotum. I've heard about them before, but always forget...but thanks for the reminder!

My dad, who lived in Germany during my childhood, mailed me cassette recordings of himself reading aloud, and I listened to them over and over again.

T-that is like the most adorable thing omfg. I am kinda jealous.

Seeing Good Omens on that list is heartening :)

Also The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is such a classic. I still make towel jokes as well, and I think it's contributed at least a little to my (oftentimes poor) sense of humor.

It's funny, I know I read Hitchhiker's, and yet I cannot recall ANYTHING from it aside from the babelfish.
