so i am home for the summer. i am taking andy's idea and linking some random works in my entries to funny pictures. thanks andy!

i got a 3.31 GPA this semester...w00t! better than i expected! MUCH better than i expected actually.

so i've just been working at cvs and chillin with alfredo and friends.

lol, nice links. Too bad about who ever spencer was... although, i dont think its fair for the family to blame the jail.

why??? they should have known better than to leave someone who was going through withdrawl from sucha strong drug like heroin ALONE in a cell....they should have brought him to a hospital or something FIRST....

well, although there may have been some amount of negligence above and beyond what was reported; considering that the jail had a nurse see him to assess for withdrawal symptoms earlier and there were none, it is unlikely that withdrawal would set in so quickly and immediatly become so severe that it would lead a previously non-suicidal individual to take their own lives. while heroin is acknowledged as one of the worst substances to withdraw from, even in a hospital the patient would have been left alone for periods of time, just as he was at the jail, and even then it was only a few minutes according to the article. Suicide is fairly common in prisons for a variety of reasons, and given my own experiences with people withdrawing from heroin (none of whom are NOT left alone for peroids of 15 minutes or more) I would wager that there were probably some other circumstances that led this kid to take his own life, although withdrawal may have played a part. Nonetheless, anytime someone commits suicide it is a loss for themselves and ( ... )
