What position would he be in if you and your mom were to walk out?
It's risky, but saying 'Hey, give us a raise or we'll walk' might work. I know you have a lot to lose if he goes with walk, but... Well, if you can't survive on what he's paying now, it might be worth considering

He does. WHich is why I know it's a huge risk.

He'd just close the business. I don't think he'd kick us out but we'd probably have to find a new place to live. Which is near impossible with little money and a car that barely works.

And no other family members to lean on for help.
