He coughed; his mouth was dry and a hoarse echo bounced against the wall. He yearned to be back at the beach, with the endless supply of fresh air, and even a decent amount of food and water. He wished to be outside, in the sunlight. He wanted to be in charge again instead of being pushed around like a lab rat, taunted with his emotions being cruelly tricked.
Jack closed his eyes and thought back to when the Others were taking him to the medical station. He remembered darkness, his hands being bound and being cut off from the world around him. Fresh air whipped around him, teasing him as he was led from one Dharma station to another. And he swore he heard a sound. Someone calling his name. A girl...Kate. Maybe even Sawyer too. A loud siren tried to block them out, but he heard.
He sighed. If only he could be out there, with them. Eyes trailing around the empty room, Jack tried to imagine the other side of the glass being filled with scientist, the compartment he was trapped in now being filled with abused sea creatures under the same restraints as he was now, and he knew what it was like, only wanting to escape, to be able to go back home. To be able to see the world outside of the island again.
