Today at the social security office they said my lawyer sucks since they sent me in to fill out an application. They said it's completed online and any good lawyer knows that and does it themself. So basically they are making me do all the legwork while they get paid. So I dropped them and am doing this myself. If I get denied and need a hearing I

I know that in MD anyway, no one ever gets social security without a lawyer and definitely not the first time they apply. I have several family members on social security and they all had the same experience. Good luck, because it is a huge pain. :(

Yeah same here. I will definitely get denied the first time, but if it goes through the SECOND time I don't need a lawyer. I only need a lawyer if it comes to a hearing. Also, it's retroactive, so even if I get it two years from now my application date was today so I'll have a buttload of money coming back.

I think the retroactive part is the only thing that makes how hard it is to get it, worth it.

I think the main reason I WILL get it is because of DCF and the removal of my children due to severe depression. I have tons of their paperwork going on and on about my depression and inability to provide an emotionally sound environment because of it. Fucking assholes, but it may help in this case.
