I'm thinking of doing my 6,000 plus word project and use it as part of a novel I'm working on. The story would be of a sudden ice storm that comes up during Halloween as America is suffering from a destabilizing civil war, and a group of refugees seeking to escape the conflict are harassed by a sadistic group of bandits who take pleasure at making their lives miserable. However, the group isn't without help, as one of the people in the group has a CB radio, and has found out that a friendly group of soldiers is not too far away and could make things interesting for those sadists!
