Hey out there. Would anyone be willing to do a read-through of the first 1000-odd words of a Mal/Jayne fic? It would be much appreciated, thanks
( Read more... )
I thought I was going to end it there and begin a new chapter, but I now think I want to do 8 chapters according to the outline, so that means that this first one should end up being much longer, and hopefully with more real substance between Mal and Jayne that would give an idea that this story is about a blossoming relationship between the two.
And I know it's rather cheesy, but really, it's rather difficult concocting a romance between these two, and it's the best I could come up with.
I'm not looking for strict beta so much as discussion, just so I know I'm going the right way. Beta is icing on the protein, as they say. ;D
Sorry to bug you, but should I ask someone else? I've got a couple concerns about where to go next and I don't want to rush you if you've other things to do.
No, no, I've already read it and everything. Should I post my thoughts as a comment here, there, or send an e-mail? There's not a lot of stuff. I can do it when I get home from work, if I'm not too late. It'll be mid-Thursday otherwise.
I apologise for taking a while. I know I hate it when people make me wait for stuff like this, hee.
Mal/Jayne? Sure, I'd love to get an early look! I can proof, or critique or just give a thumbs up, what ever you're looking for.
And, yes, I did go through a World of Warcraft obsession faze, even though I never liked a video game before. I was a female dwarf paladin and loved it. I got distracted around level 40, but my husband still plays. He has 2 level 60 characters now and he fights almost exclusively in the battlegrounds where you can battle Horde players.
The game is ingenious, really brilliantly done. You do know, however, that it will suck all your free time, right? I'd hate to loose a good fanfic writer to WOW.
Oh indeed. The night I started playing (last week?) my friend's husband, who is one of those level 60 types, said he felt like he was handing me a loaded syringe of heroin. It's just complete addiction for him. I stop by every day and he's just playing and playing and playing and even when he's being a good boy and conversing with the rest of us, as soon as we get distracted, he's made his break and is back at the computer!
But I've been around video games for a long time now (I'm an artist, and I've various buds doing art for gaming companies), and just don't have the right genes for it, or something. I get bored after a couple hours of being immersed and obsessed. It's a nice balance.
Honestly, I think I'd rather be reading slash. Nuff said. ;D
As for beta help, I've decided I want to make this and the next two parts I was planning on writing one long chapter, so I may hit you up then, if you don't mind? Also, for discussion of the IC or OCC nature of various actions or dialogue.
