With het, particularly in a touchy pairing such as this, I raise my standards in regards to context. But damn, do I ever lower them when it comes to the actual writing. Ohhhh if you do, start with When Sleeping Mercenaries Lie and then go straight to Problem Solving. THEY ARE BOTH TOO GOOD.

And even if they don't do the trick, I understand completely -- it's a very teetering-on-the-edge-of-squickability kind of pairing. And the sheer amount of bad!fic dedicated to them is squickifying alone.

Also many thanks for the recs (and I can't believe the abbreviation monkey has acted again and, urgh, made "Rayne" out of River/Jayne *whimper*). Anyway, you said that there have been at least a handful of readable R/J stories post-"Serenity". Could you perhaps post their URLs or mail them to me, pretty please? Thanks!

Thanks for the rec! I have to say, I've read a lot of truly dire R/J fics in my time, and I've actually stopped reading anything new now in an attempt to stop my eyes from bleeding. So, not only do I get a nice warm feeling inside from being recommended, I also get some nice new fics to read! Ah, this is a good day...
