A Plot, a Plot! (My kingdom for a)

If someone would give me a plausible, original-ish plot for Mal/Jayne, I'd write it. Hell, maybe even River/Jayne, if it was interesting enough (the pairing is sort of begging for something newish ( Read more... )

I'm stuck in the mud when it comes to ideas

Oh, I know this feeling. I have this tendency to write lots of character-analysis stories (mostly focussed on 'how can I plausibly get character 1 and character 2 into bed together?'), but I have a really hard time with plotty-stories. I wish I could come up with more caper/adventure type fic (especially longer stuff), but no, that is rare for me.

Everything winds up sounding rather porny and cheap in my head.

But porny and cheap can be good?

Although it helps to have someone available to chat with through the sticky bitsYes ( ... )

Ah... Can I say thank god, first? Cause I was reading through your request and was struggling through how I could possibly make the experience only minorly painful without writing a novel. Cause it would take that many sidestories to excuse it all.

Not that it doesn't sound like a very charming tale of romance and adventure and all that.

But now that I understand that you wield sarcasm well, I think I'll just sit back and laugh (and cry that it could actually get written).

I think I have a plot. Of course, it is rather inconvenient to write such a long thing at the moment, but considering I'm here responding in enthusiastic length instead of working on my essay, well, it may just get done.

What do you think about Mal and Jane being captured on a planet currently hosting a popular gladiator event? (and having porny and cheap we-might-die-tomorrow sex [well, handjobs] through the bars of their respective cells?) I have a large surrounding plot, but that's the meat (ha) of the thing.

Lol! I wield sarcasm to horrify and terrify. Puppies! Balloons! Parties and true love!

Okay, so I wrote a rough outline the other day, but I wrote it for myself, so it's... pretty rough.

So yes, they will be fighting each other, eventually, somewhat. But not really. I think it's very appropriate of Mal how he saves them both, but that's what makes me think that maybe I should switch them around, for some kind of a twist. Who knows.

Yes, there is a lot of cheese here that I'm hoping to weed out or make work. There is a lot. of plot. before anything happens. A discouraging amount.

I really like the idea of weaving in the Reavers theme. For one, it's a logical continuation of the film, and for two, it makes Jayne all vulnerable-like which can be useful.

I'll start working on it in 1, 2, pages of actual academic essay. How's yours? ;)
